HORROR VACUI - A Part / Grenoble

Lionel of Sixpack invited me to do an exhibition in A Part, Grenoble, France.

Here some images of a great couple of days, big big thanks to Marc and Julie, Jean Pierre, the lovely A Part-crew, "mr. Noisy" Lionel and the rock 'n roll Sixpack-thugs...and the fine people of beautiful Grenoble I met: it was too short but too good!


Ahhh...ooohhh etc., the typical Dutch reaction to these things called mountains.


Streamlined tags on the public transport leaves only one thing to complain about:

DEATH METAL LOGOS

While doing some research I bumped into these collections of DEATH METAL logos, and there is to me a funny link to the "variation in uniformity" of most contemporary graffiti (at least while trying to see it from an outsider's point of view, which for me certainly is the case regarding the metal-logos).

I was invited by Lionel of Sixpack for a show in Apart, Grenoble, France:



HORROR VACUI

I wanted to do a show about my "fear of emptiness", emptiness in both form and content.
In a way it stands for a reflection on my way of working and a moment in time. Visually there is the need to fill every part with as much details/shapes as possible, but hereby having less and less focus or meaning. Almost like needing loud noise to feel quiet. On the other hand it stands for the fear of not making anything artistically that means something, the fear to be part of this overwhelming senseless world and adding even more to it. Doing exactly that never felt this good.
